TEAM NEWS

Welcome to the Pool arm of St. Augustine's Social Club.
St. Augustine's was one of the founder member teams of the local Pool
League called 'Hammersmith & Districts Pool League' and is now the
League's Headquarters. The League was formed in 1984 with its Headquarters
at the 'Hope and Anchor' just off King Street, Hammersmith and consisted
of eight teams from the Pubs/Clubs in the surrounding areas.
Over the years the League, formerly known as 'Allied Irish Banks' and
'Old Courtyard Studios', has varied between three to four divisions and
at its height had 48 Men's teams and 11 Ladies teams back in 1992 - 1994.
The last few years has seen the League go through a transformation period
with its website going live and re-affiliation to the Royal Berkshire
County Pool Association, thus, creating the opportunities for players
to compete at the next level of Pool and beyond.
Incorporating, also into its structure the 'World Eight Ball rules' by
which players need to be playing continually in order to compete at County
and National Level, but also keeping the 'Old EPA rules' in play for which
the League preserves its history. St. Augustine's is one of the many Pubs/Clubs
in the area that has many young talents coming through who will hopefully
benefit from these steps forward.
Over
the years St. Augustine's has been fortunate to field at least one team
each season to date and has enjoyed many successes since, both individually
and in team events. At present the Club has three teams playing for silverware
this season, two in World Division 1 and one in Old EPA Division 2.
